Inside The Faery World and Mind Set

11 06 07 - 19:48

I have transferred all the information from my Faery Fact blog page in regards to my "Inside The Faery World and Mind Set" unto this blog available with my angelfire account since it is not working well at myblogsite for whatever reason.  There was not much related to faeries or angels in terms of templates so I chose this bird related one.  There wings are similat to the types of wings you would expect an angel to have.

Inside the Faery World and Mind Set

June 18, 2007

I created this entry to talk about how phenomena and logic works in the faery world, as well as the definiton of words that relate to them.

When a human manages to step into the faery world, often in a faery mushroom ring there is a slowing down of time.  The world outside the ring ages more quickly.  A person may spend only a few hours or days in the ring, only to come out and find that decades or even centuries have passed.  This only happens if that person does get out, by most of the time not eatting any faery food.  The real kicker comes by the fact that once a person gets out of the faery world they are usually unhappy for the rest of their days in the mundane human world.

This a piece of information I picked up from the Film"Fairy Tale a True Story".  Faery magic is supposed to be called "Glama".  A faery' Favorite thing to do is dance.  They also like to drink Honeysuckle dew.

Dec 19, 2007 update

From my "Book Quotes"section I have learned that faery magic can also be called Glamour.  Glama is either the shortening of that word or possibly the latin word for it.  I cannot be certain of the later for I have never studed latin.  Has anyone reading this section done so?  I am currentlyy teaching myself to speak Japanese with a "teach yourself"kit I bought from Indigos and that is the only foreign language I wish to focus on for the time being.

There is a website www.twigwizardry.com  that state that faeries never stay in the same place for long.  You have to click on to Faery Tale to get the website's creator's explanation of a faery's traveling habits.  Although I find this website sterotypes faeries to the Victorian idea that they are always small fragile beings, the idea of what they need when stopping at a place for a short druation, presents them as as low technological creatures.  They are nomadic when outside a Faery ring and carefree from having to stay put in one place throughout their lives in the human world.  They are also naughty at times and make us temporary lose precious objects, such as keys.  Maybe it is their way of telling us not to take ourselves so seriously.  This website also indicates that Faeries love anything that sparkles and love simplicity.

When introduced to how society works inside a faery ring, the United Kingdom version often gives the faeries a King and Queen.  This notion I think, reflects the needs of the human world more than what Faeries actually need and want.  Since the beginning of the telling of faery Folklore, some countries no longer have a monarchy, should this transition not also be reflected inside faery societies at times?  There have been stories told that the world of the Faeries is a mirror reflection of our own except with magical powers.  Should it not include elected leaders as well?

A book I looked through at the MPRC on faeries, stated that some people believe that ants are just faeries who changed sizes very often in their past. I don't remember what the book was called and it does not seem to be at the MPRC anymore; it was an oversized book and has probably been put into storage until someone asks for it.  The bit of information I have just described shows me that faeries have to learn to be economical with their powers or a disaster can happen to them.

I have also read I don't remember where that faeries sometimes exchange human children with their own.  The faery child which is left behind is called a changling.  In history these changlings were often the explanation for mentally challenged and physically handicaped children.  Sometimes these children were put to death because of their link to the faery World without their parents suffering any punishment for other members of society.  Were faeries as heartless as these humans believed to kidnapp a human child and leave a deformed faery-child behind in its place?  What gain is there to bring human children into the faery world and slowly turning them into Faery like beings like themselves?  Aside from getting rid of a child that is viewed as a burden, is this an act of revenge against so unknown trespass a human did with or without awarenees?  Is it instead an attempt at creating a tie with humans by making an ally out of a human child by bring it up in their world?

There are tales that say the faery world is a mirror image of our own, except for the supernatural phenomena.  If this is true can the Faery realm remain one without technology?  The fairyvisons website in Myrea Petit's lists (see books, films and websites) gives me the impression that faeries don't like any form of technology in their lives.  Is this approach to life practical?  Since they are often referred to as nature spirits is is not likely they would want to spends hours in front of a TV or radio but, they might want to use electricty for small lights and the easing of labour if they are not nomadic.  So it may be more accurate to think they are low tech but not completely without technology and that whatever technology they may have decided to use has would been researched for years beforehand for environmental purposes.  They might have discovered solar and wind energy and used them before us and planted those ideas into the human mind, when they had enough of the damage our primitive forms of  energy production had on us and them ;).

If you also check out all of Myrea Petits List, you will find at one point Cat Faeries I wondered a while at what the big deal about this was (yes there are other Faery animals found on the Web but Faeries Cats were dominant).  Then I remember a National Geographic episode focusing on cats that I watched once.  Basically they said there were two sides to a cat, the friendly pet we adore and then the wild thing they turn into when outside on their own.  I think Faeries are similar: civilized and then wild at other times.

Since we are on the subject of Cat Faeries at one time under the search words "Cat Fairy" at Google, I found a website that had a big drawn picture of a Cat Faery devouring a small faery in its mouth . Possibly it had mistaken it for a regular butterfly of moth.  The viewer could only see half of the faery, the bottom half with wings sticking out of its sides.  There was no head, only the cats mouth dripping with blood.  What do you suppose the website creators were trying to say with that drawing?  Possibly anything that is small and moves is lunch to a Cat Faery, even another type of faery.  I have tried to find that sight again without any luck.  Maybe it has been deleted or simply erased from Googles search engine.  If any of you readers out there find it please tell me where it is located.  I think it would be a nice dose of black humour to put in the books, films and websites section.

September 4, 2007,

I found this website that explains what plants attract faeries and why, as well as how to build houses for them at http://www.afaeryhunt.com/fairyfun.htm . I also learnt at http://faeryfaith.org that faeries are strongly attracted to vibrations.

I was going to start putting up information on the rowan tree here tonight because I did not think it grew in Quebec and would therefore not fit into my Quebec Trees appendix.  After a brief search on the internet I found out it does grow here under the name mountain ash, so I posted up the best sights I found on the mountain ash over there.

I am going to sum up how the faery world works in Ferwin Jones novel "The Faery Path".  The author has set up a mirror type of universe that shares some similar traits with the mortal world but also has its differences.  The same antique buildings are located in both worlds with slight differences.  Modern building from the mortal world are not found in Faery.  Faeries are the same size as humans and don't have pointy years or antennas on their heads.  Only young faeries have wings, which fall off during puberty.  This situation I believe must be troublesome to parents who are trying to catch up with naughty children.  No parents in the book faced this problem as the very young children introduced were toddlers who did not care to be to faraway from their parents.  It just struck me that naughty children would have the ability to runaway from their punishments.  One of the characters does state that at one time Faerys kept their wings throughout their lives.  She does not know how or when it changed. Perhaps the reason will be written in sequel books.

When in the mortal world for to long Faeries become like humans and can die from illnesses and old age but, their soul is capable of rebirth.  Thus the main character Anita/Tanya gets reincarnated a couple of times during the course of five hundred years, until she is pulled back into the land of Faery.  There she suffers from amnesia about her former life as a faery, as well as all the time that has passed since she left.  Instead of the great time lapse that normal occurs after a human has gone into the world of faery and then as been pulled back, she lives the same situation in reverse.  The great time lapse occurs for her in Faery.

All Faeries appear to have only one type of magical talent.  I say appear because in "The Faerie Path" , the royal faeries are mostly the ones the narrator focuses on.  The sequels to this novel may differ in this reguard.  To gain more magical powers a Faerie has to study what is called the mystic arts.

Faeries are allergic to metal.  A mild reaction to it is a small charge of static electricity.  A major reaction to it is illness or death.  To immune themselves to these reactions, the faeries have to wear somewhere on their bodies an amulet made from amber.  They also make their untensils out of the bones of animals instead of metal.
